Free VPN Test: Is Your VPN Working?

Compare the address, network owner, protocol, and browser exposure before and after you connect. The detector prioritizes explainable evidence and low false-positive rates.

Observed connection

No positive signal was found in the available free data. This does not prove that no VPN is in use.

AS16509 is classified as Amazon. Hosting alone does not prove VPN use.

How to use this result

Connection change and VPN detection are different tests.

First: did the route change?

Connect your VPN and reload. A full tunnel normally changes the public address or network organization. Country may stay the same when you choose a nearby server.

If nothing changes, check split tunneling, browser proxy extensions, and the VPN kill switch. Repeat after switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data.

Second: is the exit recognized?

An exact relay-list match is strong evidence. A hosting ASN is only context because ordinary servers and corporate gateways use the same infrastructure.

A working VPN can still display “No VPN evidence” when its exit is new, private, residential, dedicated, or absent from available free sources.

Check your VPN in three steps

  1. Disconnect your VPN and note the public address and network owner.
  2. Connect the VPN, reload this page and compare the address and network.
  3. Run the separate browser checks and repeat after changing networks.

This test is free and does not require an account. Your notes stay with you; the site does not keep a permanent before-and-after profile.

VPN test questions

Why has my public IP not changed?

Your browser may be excluded by split tunneling, the client may protect only corporate destinations, or you may be using a proxy extension. Check the unchanged IP troubleshooting guide.

Why does a working VPN show No VPN evidence?

The exit may be new or absent from the available relay inventories. A route change and recognition of an exit are separate checks; a missing provider label does not prove the tunnel failed.

Can I test a free VPN?

Yes. Use the same connection checklist for free and paid plans. You do not need to provide VPN credentials.

Does this test verify encryption or logging?

A browser page can observe public addresses and browser exposure. It cannot independently inspect all device traffic, prove server-side logging policies or verify every encrypted packet.

Compare free VPN plan limits before choosing a service.
